NABS
"NABS" N.A.B.S. #NABS is a complex created for (and refered to frequently in) Martial Nonviolence which suggests the following when considered archetypally (whole which is, ironically, impossible):
Not All But Some
Human consciousness, and therefore understanding and attention, while limited, can nonetheless encompass a portion of whatever it contacts. The questions is always: Which part at the moment?
Non Applicable Bull Shit
Alternately/simultaneously a:
- dismissive attack phrase and idea used as a defense mechanism to avoid considering stuff that seems too unfamiliar or too much to control/master,
- potentially helpful/necessary corrective for self-indulgence and other sloppiness where associative precision is required
- metaphorical impossibility, as most ideas can be seen as related in a way that is important to somebody, thereby being potentially applicable when reaching for the big picture. Also, probably neither actual shit, nor bull originated.
To seize, arrest or take into custody (a criminal or fugitive), suggesting a pursuit of something elusive which seems to belong to the shadow/underworld and pose a threat which needs Dealing With.
To grab or snatch something, suggesting times when it is necessary to move quickly and make connections decisively.
The summit of an eminence, suggesting the fantasy that when you have Got It you've reached The (rather than a) Summit of understanding.
The cock of a gunlock (a flintlock mechanism fitted to a cannon, that fires it when a cord is pulled), suggesting the triggering nature and potentially violent reactions to bringing limited consciousness to grabby, high stakes conflicts.
The keeper, or box into which a lock is shot, suggesting the ways in which the search for security and control of places/locations (where X is happening) is related to advanced preparation, structure, liminality, and simple working mechanisms which are often embeded/invisible, always more than they seem and often embedded in thresholds which are otherwise designed/intended to facilitate passage in/to and out/from.
So much more...
