So you are going to Dallas

The museums get better and better every time I go home for a visit. The DMA (Dallas Museum of Art) regularly hosts must-see collections, and the open air public lawns nearby offer public reading areas, community spaces, rehearsals by the Medieval Times knights, bands, large performances, etc. The new Perot Nature and Science museum is WAY cool. The Nasher has an amazing sculpture collection, but my favorite is the Crow Asian Art Collection. It is particularly fine.

There is often excellent theater at the Dallas Theater Center and in the various smaller regional houses thereabouts. When I go, I go mostly to Theater Three and Kitchen Dog these days. Check http://www.dallasobserver.com/theater/

Head across the river to Oak Cliff for the Bishop Arts section, which has truly magnificent taquerias, little restaurants of other descriptions, mostly worthy, antiques, galleries, some of the best coffee in the area, and more.
