GIV-the god of intimate violence
Not Ares, under whose banner a mob of Us get high on the promise of slaughter in order to go off and kill a bunch of Them, there is another god who gorges on intimate violence. Petty resentment is his/her survival gruel, but the full banquet of dark delight for this force is the life and death struggles built atop the purposeful misintepretations and petty offenses that precede collosal temper tantrums and ridiculous, disproportionately cruel retribution.
Man X (usually) kills woman Y, goes to prison for a long time, and spends the rest of his life muttering to himself "That Bitch" and "I just don't know what happened / got into me." She (usually) slaps or barks at her kids for everything they do that wasn't in line with her often unspoken intention or values, and let's them know that it is standard operating procedure to become emotionally violent when upset or in pain.
The worst of this entity's power is that it is contagious and addictive. It is so hard to opt-out of its cycle and escape it tendrils of offenses given, taken, and repayed. In the end and in retrospect it is predictable, makes the same moves over and over, and has a one-page, laminated, eight or nine line script that get repeated ad nauseum as though each accusation were a revelation. GIV's rituals are sacred and infuse the participants with power and purpose which burns out the meat of relationship and leaves emotional husks.
Where and what are the names of this god through history?
