Myths are narratives which organize factual-tangible and fictional-intangible aspects of human experience into an influential way of seeing the world. Many people use the word "myth" to refer to misconceptions and demonstrably false beliefs, as in the TV show Mythbusters. If pressed to present a formal definition, however, most would admit that they know myth to have a much larger scope, meaning much more, from historical religious traditions to contemporary advertising, political propaganda, and the construction of celebrity, for example. As a result, "Myth" has become a way of looking at the stories behind any powerful image/idea with roots in the past, influence in the present, and potential consequences in the future.
