Culturesmith Curator-Facilitators working on this material:
In the past, "mythology" referred to "other people's religions" and was a subcategory of other academic disciplines. In the later 20th century, Mythology became its own discipline and came to be the embodied study of systems and cultures via the psychology of belief. More directly put: it matters tremendously how what we believe, the intangible structures that direct our behavior, are configured in terms of the conscious and unconscious narratives in which we live. Put in terms of the conversation you have begun, and for which I am so grateful, it seems to me that martial study and TSYR in particular are not just valuable but essential because they offer the opportunity to become fully embodied, alive here and now, even more so when dealing with conflict in a more conscious way that allows you to continue to making ethical decisions even under life and death pressure. They offer us the chance to learn the skillset that has been so poorly taught and studied, and which is required for humanity to continue on this planet--doing conflict well.
