All,
At The Renaissance School in Oakland, I will be teaching aikido and Martial Nonviolence (MNv) (see martialnonviolence.com) to 6-12 year olds five days a week for the next two weeks, July 9-13 and 16-20, from 1-3:30 (arrive 12:30 and leave at 4). When I create a Martial Nonviolence curriculum for a group, I call it Peace Practices (PcPx) (see peacepractices.com).
- Would you like to come/learn/help? Please reply to me directly at Sensei@FreeAiki.com
- This will effect our Monday classes both the day after tomorrow and next week. Please reply to me directly to say if you can attend class one hour earlier, from 11-12 on the next two Mondays.
- This will effect our Friday classes both the day after tomorrow and next week. Classes will continue as normal. I am waiting to hear from potential guest instructors and will let you know. Otherwise, the classes will be study groups and sempai (more experienced) will respond to questions from kohai (less experienced) and everyone will train together.
Several people have gone out of their way lately to make clear that they value my work teaching kids, and teaching aikido beyond the usual dojo/tai jutsu applications. I really appreciate this encouragement. There have also been requests for a study group that would work on more advanced martial applications (with contact and at higher speeds) and transitioning between verbal and physical levels of conflict. Please reply to me directly at Sensei@FreeAiki.com if you like this idea enough to commit both money and time, as with other professional training, to forming a closed cohort that would work together once a week for six months and study/interact online between classes. Class times and rates are not set yet, as they will evolve based on information provided by participants.
